My Qualifications

Training & Work

Resume: Resume

I left school at the age of sixteen and went straight into veterinary nursing. I left veterinary nursing and worked as The General Managers PA & Bookings Manageress in the Ritzy Nightclub. I then worked as school secretary at a private school for girls while studying my NCVQ Business Administration II & III. I left the school to start a family. Whilst at home with the children I decided I would study dog grooming. I completed an ICS Diploma in Professional Grooming along with my Microchipping qualification. I started grooming on a mobile basis and worked as much as I could in a local rescue centre on a voluntary basis. I started my business, Harlequins  Grooming. I met a lovely lady called Barbara who was a very good Cat Groomer, she was retiring and asked me if I would like to take over her customers. I have a real passion for cats after working with them at the vets and having to deal with all the de-mats. My business was growing  and I decided to get my first commercial salon in Plymstock. I studied at Canine Design in Shepton Mallet with Lesley Garrett and Kelly Gayler and gained my City & Guilds Level 3 in Professional Dog Grooming. I left my shop and worked alongside another groomer, running my business from within her salon. I moved to South Brent after having my baby boy and decided I needed a fresh start, not only with my home life but business too so took the decision to start a new business venture in South Brent, Goldies Dog Boutique and Spa was launched. I am a qualified Emmi-Pet Technician as well as a distributor. My partner, Carl runs the shop while I work in the salon.

This year I have taken two courses, Feline Health, Well-Being and First Aid and Canine Health & First Aid. I have attended several seminars with Kelly Gayler, Georgia Ashton-Fuller, Colin Taylor and Wayne Roby, always striving to improve my knowledge of dog and cat grooming.

2020 has been such an awful year with lockdowns etc but I have utilised this time to study.
